Netflix is ​​back in the spotlight after beating expectations by tightening password sharing rules, introducing a new ad-supported tier, ramping up licensing deals and consistently delivering a high volume of on-demand content to its 270 million subscribers globally.

Licensed content is playing an increasingly important role in Netflix’s strategy. Since November 2023, the number of licensed shows on Netflix has grown by about 6%, representing 35% of the platform’s TV catalog by June 2024, according to Parrot Analytics’ Content Panorama.

Licensed content is not only growing in quantity, but also in importance for Netflix. Since November of last year, the share of demand for licensed TV content has increased.
