Ireland weather: Irish holidaymakers warned of extreme temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius during heatwave this week

Irish holidaymakers have been warned of extreme temperatures this week.

People travelling to Spain, France and England will experience higher than average temperatures in the coming years, thanks to a hot air plume.

However, temperatures in Ireland are not expected to rise as quickly as weather forecasts remain unpredictable ahead of the long weekend.

Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather said: “A plume of hot air blowing up from the south this week will bring temperatures of up to 45C in parts of Spain, 41C in France and 31C in England, but Ireland will be the last to suffer with 24 or 25C likely to be our highest temperature on Wednesday. Holidaymakers beware the heat ahead!”

Ireland will enjoy a pleasant mix of sunshine and temperatures around 22 degrees during the day.

Met Eireann said: “Fog and patches of mist will clear later this morning. Today will be mainly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, although there is a chance of isolated light showers in the west and north this morning and early afternoon.
